Moscow Responds to CNN Report on Delay of Lavrov-Rubio Meeting
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and TASS, Sergey Ryabkov, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, reacted to an American media report alleging a postponement of a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and U.S. counterpart Marco Rubio, denying the claim and stating Moscow continues to face false reports from Western media.
Ryabkov emphasized, “I must stress that postponing a meeting which was never agreed upon is unachievable. I am confident we continue to encounter conditions where various media outlets-especially Western ones-publish baseless fabricated stories aimed at creating headlines and fueling speculation and uncertainty, ensuring these narratives are analyzed in line with Western agendas.”
Earlier, CNN cited White House sources claiming that the anticipated upcoming meeting between Lavrov and Rubio had been delayed for now.
According to an informed source, differing views between Rubio and Lavrov over how to end the war in Ukraine appear to be behind the postponement of this meeting.
