Peru Declares 30-Day State of Emergency
According too the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Xinhua, Peru’s president has announced a 30-day state of emergency and extraordinary measures in the capital city as well as the Callao region.
This decision comes amid intensifying internal clashes and widespread protests that have resulted in at least 100 injuries. The Peruvian cabinet approved this measure, which took effect from midnight last night.
The president stated that security forces will shift from a defensive stance to an offensive posture against crime and violence, noting that such issues have escalated considerably across Peru in recent years.
The government attributes these unrests to criminal gangs operating behind the scenes,while protesters blame presidential policies for triggering the turmoil.
