Sweden and Ukraine Sign Agreement to Purchase Dozens of Fighter Jets

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson announced on Wednesday that Sweden has reached an agreement with Ukraine to export nearly 150 light JAS-39 Gripen fighter jets. He emphasized that the world must increase pressure on Putin to end the war in Ukraine.
The Swedish Prime Minister added that the agreement signed today with Ukraine is not intended as new financial aid but aims at long-term cooperation in air defense. The goal is to build a powerful Ukrainian Air Force over the next 10 to 15 years.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that they expect the final contract will include at least 100 Gripen fighters. Kyiv aims to receive and deploy these jets by next year.
