Nawaf Salam: Hezbollah Must Disband Its Military Wing!

Lebanon’s Prime⁤ Minister once again emphasized the disarmament of Lebanon’s resistance in line with the goals of the ⁢United States and the israeli regime.

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Al-Nashra via⁣ Mehr News Agency,‌ Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam stated: “We welcomed former U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan for several reasons, including providing immediate aid ⁢to Gaza without displacing its residents and ‌opposing the annexation of the ‌West Bank.”

He added, “I ‌believe israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu views war ‌like ‍riding a bicycle: if he stops, he‍ will fall. Therefore, I am concerned about the situation. Along⁣ the Lebanese border, we‌ face a war of attrition-not⁣ an all-out war ⁣but one that exhausts everyone.”

Addressing prospects for peace between Lebanon ‍and Israel, Salam said: “We must⁢ be realistic. Two years ago, we negotiated maritime border demarcation ‍with Israel; this is not new. What we seek today is a ceasefire that Israel has ignored. Israel still occupies certain areas in⁢ southern Lebanon and has not released Lebanese prisoners.‌ Declaring a ceasefire alone is insufficient;⁣ it must be implemented on the ground.”

Regarding the army’s plan timeline,he explained: “This plan will be implemented in phases. In the first three months, focus ‍will be⁢ on arms control-preventing weapons from being transferred ⁢or used south of Litani River. The second phase will⁣ cover areas between Litani and ‌Sidon.”

The Prime Minister also argued there would be no retreat from government monopoly over ‌military force⁤ and ‍claimed: “Hezbollah‌ should become an ordinary political party without an armed wing.”

Meanwhile, Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem reiterated yesterday: “We are not influenced by threats. ⁤disarming Hezbollah does not solve any problems.”
