Hamas: Occupiers’ Moves to Annex West Bank Are Null and Illegal

The English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Shehab News Agency, reported that Hamas reacted to the passage of two legislative proposals in the Israeli Knesset aimed at annexing the West Bank and imposing sovereignty over the Ma’ale Adumim settlement.Hamas condemned these measures, describing them as a blatant attempt to normalize settlement expansion and impose occupier control over occupied territories.
In a statement, Hamas declared that this vote exposes “the ugly face of colonial occupation” and constitutes a clear violation of all international laws and resolutions concerning the West Bank.
The movement stressed that Israel’s efforts to annex West Bank lands are null and illegal.it will not change “the Palestinian identity of the West Bank” based on history, international law, or the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice in 2024.
Hamas held Israel responsible for all consequences resulting from these invalid occupation laws. It called on the united Nations, Arab League, and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to condemn this move firmly. The statement urged these bodies to act decisively to halt occupation policies and hold their leaders accountable for crimes against Palestinians and clear violations of their international obligations.
Simultaneously occurring, the Israeli Knesset passed in its preliminary reading a draft law titled “Request of Sovereignty over the West bank.”
Israel’s Channel 12 reported that this initial reading was approved with 25 votes in favor versus 24 against.
Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel’s Minister of Internal Security, commented: “now is time to apply sovereignty over the West Bank.”
This growth comes amid widespread opposition from many countries regarding any Israeli actions related to annexation or sovereignty claims over parts of the West Bank.
