US Launches New Pacific Operations Citing Drug Combat Efforts
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Agence France-Presse reported that the United States claimed it carried out a new operation in the Pacific Ocean targeting a drug trafficking boat.
In this context,US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced Wednesday night that American forces conducted a deadly strike yesterday in the eastern pacific Ocean against a ship belonging to an association labeled as “terrorist” engaged in drug smuggling.
Hegseth stated that the operation took place in international waters and resulted in the deaths of two members of the trafficking group, while no American personnel were harmed.
The US defense chief justified conducting this attack near Caribbean territorial waters by asserting that drug-terrorists who aim to “bring poison to our shores” will find no safe haven in the region.
He also referenced escalating activity by drug cartels, claiming these groups are waging war against US borders much like Al-Qaeda previously waged war against America.
