US Military Activity Intensifies Against Venezuela; Mexican President Responds

U.S. military actions against Venezuela have ⁢intensified as Mexico’s president publicly ​responds.

According ‍to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and ⁤Sputnik, Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum expressed opposition to U.S.government and military operations targeting boats in the Caribbean.

Responding to questions about recent⁤ attacks on vessels that the‍ U.S. labels ‌as drug traffickers, Sheinbaum⁤ stated she does not support U.S. strikes on boats ⁤off the coast of South America.

Sheinbaum saeid, “Obviously,⁢ we​ do not agree. ​International law governs how illegal drug or arms trafficking is handled in international waters, and we have openly conveyed ⁢this position to the United states government.”

She added that Mexico seeks to strengthen relations with the United ​States but will not compromise principles of sovereignty, autonomy, and non-interference in other countries’ affairs.

Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal reported-citing U.S. officials⁣ and⁤ flight data-that amid rising tensions between Washington and Caracas, two long-range American B-1 bombers flew near Venezuelan airspace ‍on Thursday.

A ​U.S. defense official told The Wall⁣ Street Journal these bombers are not stationed at any regional bases sence they can reach any point ‍in the Caribbean from within U.S.​ territory.

Another​ official added that more missions involving⁢ these bombers are expected soon.

Tensions are escalating as Washington claims ​it is engaged in a ‍war against drug traffickers.

Former President Donald Trump previously warned that following naval strikes, his country might also target ground ⁣objectives in South America.

On Thursday, Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López warned that any⁤ covert CIA ​operations against Venezuela would fail.

“We know the CIA is present⁣ in Venezuela,” he said. “They may⁣ deploy numerous CIA-affiliated units​ for ​clandestine operations here but all such attempts will be defeated.”
