Turkey Appoints New Ambassador to Syria

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News agency and the Syrian news website Syria TV, Turkey’s Foreign minister Hakan Fidan has appointed his deputy, Nuh Yilmaz, as Turkey’s ambassador to Syria.
The Turkish Anadolu Agency announced that Nuh Yilmaz was officially appointed ambassador to the Syrian Arab Republic with the signature of Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
This appointment highlights Syria’s strategic importance from Ankara’s outlook amid efforts to restore diplomatic relations between the two countries, according to Anadolu Agency.
Nuh Yilmaz is one of Turkey’s most experienced diplomats, with extensive background in foreign policy, intelligence, and communications.
Since May 20, 2024, Yilmaz has served as deputy foreign minister.Prior to his diplomatic career, he held sensitive positions within Turkey’s National Intelligence Institution (MIT) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
