Colombian President: I Will Never Surrender
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency via Yemen Net, Colombian President Gustavo Petro stated, “My wife, my sons, and I have been included in the US sanctions list. However, I will not take a step back and will never surrender.”
The US Treasury Department has announced sanctions against Gustavo Petro.
The department added that these sanctions freeze all assets and property rights owned by Petro and his family members in the United States.
Last Sunday, former US President Donald Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social accusing Gustavo Petro of being an illegal drug lord who actively promotes large-scale narcotics production across Colombia’s vast farms.
Trump, who previously used similar justifications for overt military intervention in Venezuela and the Caribbean region, claimed this has become Colombia’s biggest buisness. He asserted that Petro has done nothing to stop it despite extensive payments and subsidies from the United States – which he described as a long-term fraud against America. From now on, such payments or any form of subsidies to Colombia will cease entirely.
