Venezuelan Ambassador Visits Imam Hussein Shrine

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Noon News Agency in Iraq, Arturo Aníbal, Venezuela’s ambassador to Iraq, said during a meeting with Hassan Rashid Al-Abaji, Secretary General of the Holy Shrine of Imam hussein: “We came to this sacred place to pray for our country, which is currently under threat.”
He added that thier trip to the holy provinces of Karbala and Najaf aimed at visiting religious sites and seeking peace for Venezuela and South America, where Venezuela is located.
Aníbal emphasized that he met with the governors of Karbala and Najaf Province to strengthen bilateral relations between Iraq and Venezuela.
Simultaneously occurring, the Secretary General of the Holy shrine welcomed the ambassador’s visit. He said: “The peopel of latin America, especially those in Caribbean countries, are pure-hearted and sincere. The Venezuelan people also have a bright history supporting justice and oppressed nations.”
This follows remarks by Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on Thursday announcing that his country possesses 5,000 Russian-made anti-aircraft missiles aimed at countering U.S. forces in the Caribbean Sea.
