Turkey Responds to Latest PKK Action

The spokesperson for Turkey’s Justice and Development Party emphasized that the withdrawal of terrorists from Turkey and the announcement of new steps toward disarmament represent progress on a path leading to the ultimate goal.
The now-dissolved Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) announced earlier today that it has ceased its activities inside Turkey.
According to reports, the PKK also declared that its members are leaving Turkey and relocating to northern Iraq.
The group stated that some of its members have already moved from Turkish border areas into the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, while remaining members will relocate if Turkey remains committed to the peace process.
Notably,on February 27,2025,abdullah Öcalan,leader of the PKK,called on party members in a statement to lay down their arms,hold a congress,and dissolve the institution. Subsequently, the PKK held its twelfth congress from May 5 to 7 and decided to disband itself.
In line with this development, on July 11 at a ceremony held in jesna Cave near Dukan district in Sulaymaniyah province, a group of PKK members burned their weapons as a goodwill gesture supporting peace efforts in Turkey.
