Peskov: Preparations for Putin-Trump Meeting Are Complex

The Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Sunday that Washington’s sanctions have undermined prospects for restoring US-Russia relations. Russia remains interested in maintaining good ties with all countries, including the United States, according to webangah News Agency.
Peskov added that the new US sanctions are not a reason to abandon efforts to revive bilateral relations. “It is indeed not true that everyone wants a russia-US summit,” he said. Claims about canceling a Putin-Trump meeting are inaccurate, as no definitive agreement on the date had been reached before. The process of arranging preparations for their meeting is complicated and challenging. Initially, Trump stated that holding the summit in Hungary was not currently sensible, and Putin agreed with this position. Both sides understand it is indeed better not to postpone the meeting itself.
He also noted that European Union military build-up has halted negotiations on resolving the ukraine crisis. Russia will pursue legal action against anyone involved in seizing its frozen assets.
