Trump Congratulates Chainsaw-Wielding Man Amid Argentina’s Economic Crisis

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Francetv24 via Mehr News Agency,U.S. President Donald Trump has congratulated his Argentine counterpart, Javier Milei, on his victory in the country’s midterm elections.
Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth social: “Congratulations to President Javier Milei for his decisive win in Argentina. He is doing an amazing job! The peopel of Argentina have justified our trust in him.”
Milei’s Libertarian Advance party won 41.5 percent of the vote in Buenos Aires, surpassing the Peronist coalition and securing 64 seats in the national Chamber of Deputies-up from 37 seats previously held.
In his victory speech, Milei declared that the Argentine people had made clear they do not wont to return to a failed past model. The country’s congressional midterms were held yesterday.
Analysts say this result not only strengthens the government’s political standing against it’s opponents but also enhances Milei’s ability to push forward with austerity measures.
This election marked milei’s first national popularity test since taking office in early 2023 when he promised to drastically cut government spending using a metaphorical “chainsaw.” At one campaign rally, he even showcased an actual chainsaw.
The radical Argentine president won amid ongoing political and economic crises in Argentina and allegations of interference by Trump, a close ally, in domestic affairs.
While Milei has achieved some success controlling inflation, this 55-year-old former television actor faces several challenges including corruption scandals involving Karina Milei-his sister and chief of staff-and another close ally linked to a drug trafficker-as well as a sharp depreciation of the Argentine peso.
Milei is considered one of Trump’s key allies in Latin America.Washington has pledged a $40 billion support package aimed at improving Argentina’s economic situation.
