Beijing Blames South China Sea Tensions on Philippines’ Provocative Actions

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and China’s Global Times, Gao Jiakun, spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry, responded to remarks by Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. regarding threats to the safety of Philippine ships and aircraft in the South China Sea.
The Chinese official stated that the South China Sea is a shared home for both China and ASEAN member states, and all parties must work together to preserve peace and stability.
Gao held the Philippines responsible for escalating tensions in the area, saying current disputes stem from provocative actions by Manila.
He stressed that china will firmly uphold its sovereignty and rights in accordance with law throughout the South China Sea while remaining open to resolving maritime disagreements with the Philippines through dialog.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson urged all involved countries to cease provocative acts and avoid exaggerating tensions.
