Dasilva: Trump Secured Trade Deal with Brazil

According too the English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency and Reuters, Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva stated that during their recent meeting, U.S. President Donald Trump assured him that the two countries would secure a trade deal.
Lula, speaking on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Malaysia, said his talks with Trump went well and predicted that an agreement would be reached sooner than expected.
The United States imposed a 50 percent tariff on Brazilian imports in retaliation after Jair Bolsonaro, Brazil’s former right-wing president, was condemned by Brazilian prosecutors.
Lula added that recent U.S. decisions against Brazil were “wrong,” but he remains willing to discuss any issues with Trump and assist the U.S. regarding Venezuela.
He emphasized: “I told him (Trump) it is very meaningful to consider Brazil’s experience as South America’s largest country and its key economic ties with nearly every country on the continent.”
