Katz Announces New Decision on the Southern Occupied Territories

According to the English section of webangah news Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al-Nashra, Israel Katz, Israel’s Minister of defense, has agreed with the military’s recommendation not to renew the state of emergency on the southern front of the occupied territories.This status had granted extensive powers to military authorities in that area.
this decision marks an end to the state of emergency in southern Israel for the first time as Operation Al-Aqsa Storm began on October 7, 2023.
Katz stated he decided to lift this emergency status starting tomorrow,following recommendations from the army since October 7,2023.
Katz claimed that this decision reflects improved security conditions in southern Israel due to strong operations against Hamas over the past two years. He emphasized that Israel remains committed to achieving all it’s specified war objectives, primarily dismantling Hamas’s military capabilities and disarming Gaza. The current phase requires balancing military caution with political efforts to ensure lasting stability in southern security conditions.
