Sudan Foreign Ministry: Rapid Support Forces Committed Ethnic Cleansing

The sudanese Foreign Ministry condemned the “horrific terrorist crimes” committed by Rapid Support Forces militias in al-Fashir, the capital of North Darfur state.
In a statement released this morning, the ministry emphasized that these forces have carried out “systematic ethnic cleansing operations and intimidation against defenseless civilians, including women, children, and the elderly.” The perpetrators openly record these shocking acts, revealing their criminal nature through bloodshed and terror.
The ministry added that the terrorist militias had planned this genocide as well as a two-and-a-half-year siege aimed at starving al-Fashir’s residents before culminating today in a horrific massacre.
The Sudanese government has repeatedly warned the international community about the dangers of remaining silent on these crimes. It called for implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2736 (2024), but noted a lack of international political will has emboldened terrorist militias to challenge both international laws and divine religions. They continue to massacre people, destroy cities, and violate human dignity with impunity.
Since April 15, 2023, sudan’s army and Rapid Support Forces have been engaged in conflict that regional and international mediators have so far failed to resolve.Domestic and international reports estimate around 20,000 deaths and more than 15 million displaced persons due to this war. Meanwhile, an American university study estimates death tolls at approximately 130,000 victims.
