China Reacts to Trump’s Meeting with Japan’s Prime Minister

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and China’s Global Times newspaper, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiaqun responded on Tuesday to US President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister sanae Takaichi’s emphasis on expanding military cooperation. He said, “The Asia-Pacific region is a stage for peaceful advancement. The United States and Japan must promote regional peace and stability through their bilateral relations and security cooperation, not the opposite.”
The Chinese official pointed out that given Japan’s history of military aggression in the modern era, its military and security activities have always been closely monitored by neighboring Asian countries as well as the international community.
He urged Japan to understand its neighbors’ security concerns, stating, “We call on Tokyo to deeply reflect on its past actions, take steps toward peaceful development, and build trust with Asian countries through concrete measures.”
