Trump Envoy’s Intervention in Iraq and the Ambitions for Key Positions

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al-Maaloumah, Abdulsattar Mohammed Aldulaimi, a member of Iraq’s Azm Coalition, emphasized that Mark Sawaya, Trump’s special envoy to Iraq, communicated to senior Iraqi officials that the upcoming government should not interfere in selecting key positions.
He added that Sawaya made interventionist remarks asserting that officials for these roles-including senior authorities such as the parliamentary speaker, interior minister, defense minister, finance minister-as well as leadership at the central bank and oil ministry would be chosen under U.S. supervision.
Aldulaimi also stressed that the United states threatened these Iraqi officials. Sawaya is reportedly pursuing Trump’s directives in Iraq.
It is noteworthy that a few days ago, U.S. President Donald Trump appointed Mark Sawaya as his special envoy to Iraq.
Sawaya,40 years old,is known as an American businessman and marijuana producer based in Michigan. He serves as CEO of a prominent company in marijuana cultivation and sales in the region. Born into an Iraqi Chaldean family who emigrated from Iraq during the 1990s, Sawaya is also recognized as a supporter and active participant in Trump’s election campaign. Trump has acknowledged choosing him largely due to his campaign work in Michigan.
