Joseph Aoun: Forcible Disarmament of Hezbollah Is Impossible

Lebanese sources reported that the ⁣country’s president has ruled ⁣out⁤ the possibility of disarming Hezbollah​ in response to repeated demands from American and Western mediators.

According to the English section​ of webangah News Agency,‌ citing Mehr News agency, ⁣the ‌Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar reported that President Michel Aoun ⁢declared ‍disarming Hezbollah by force “impossible” in response to ​repeated requests from American‌ and Western mediators.

Official⁤ sources saeid new‌ warnings have been sent by Western​ countries⁢ to Lebanese officials.

Al-Akhbar added that President ⁤Aoun emphasized Lebanon’s army is not⁢ capable of carrying out such a mission, and any attempt to forcibly disarm Hezbollah would ⁤lead to civil war.

According to informed sources, ⁣Aoun ‌told foreign mediators that Hezbollah’s ⁢insistence​ on defending its arms is not a ‌political message, tactic, or maneuver; ‌everyone in Lebanon understands the group’s seriousness on ⁢this issue.

He further stated​ it is very challenging for any Lebanese official to⁣ make a decision that ⁣could trigger ‍civil‍ war.
