UN Expresses Concern Over Israel’s Launch of Attacks on Gaza

The United Nations voiced it’s concern on Tuesday (US time) about recent reports that Benjamin Netanyahu,Prime Minister of Israel, has ordered renewed attacks on the Gaza Strip despite an existing ceasefire agreement, according to the English section of webangah news Agency, citing Anadolu Agency via Mehr News Agency.
UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said at a press conference: “As soon as you came in, I saw press reports. I can say these reports are very troubling.”
He added that he did not know whether UN personnel in the area had received prior warnings.
Dujarric emphasized: “We do not wont to see a rollback. It is crucial that all parties involved respect the ceasefire. We do not want civilians to be bombed again. We do not want our operations disrupted once more.”
Regarding population movements within Gaza, Dujarric reported: “Since the start of the ceasefire, over 480,000 displacements from southern to northern Gaza and 100,000 movements from west to east Khan Younis have been recorded.”
He added: “According to our partners’ reports, many people continue sheltering in temporary locations-frequently enough open spaces or damaged buildings.”
Addressing conditions in the West Bank, Dujarric cited the UN Office of Human Rights stating that Israeli settlement outposts increased from 49 cases last year (2023) to 84 this year (2024).
He also warned of escalating settler violence with 757 documented attacks occurring in just the first half of this year.
Dujarric’s comments follow reports attributed to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accusing Hamas resistance movement of violating the ceasefire in Gaza and ordering intense military strikes against the area.
The ceasefire has been in place since October 10 based on a twenty-point plan proposed by US President Donald Trump for this blockaded region.
