Islamic Jihad Urges U.S. to Compel Tel Aviv to Enforce Ceasefire
The English section of webangah News Agency, citing Palestinian Shehab News Agency via Mehr News Agency, reported that Mohammed al-Hajj Mousa, spokesperson for the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement, read a statement condemning last night’s events in gaza. He described them as a massacre and savage bombardment across various areas of the Gaza Strip-especially targeting refugee tents-a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement by the Zionist occupiers.
The statement stresses that committing massacres against civilians confirms that the occupiers persist in systematic attacks on civilians and children in Gaza. They also pursue a policy of targeted assassinations under false pretenses to justify their crimes. The occupiers have never adhered to any part of the ceasefire agreement-neither humanitarian nor military-and continue daily blatant violations against it.
Islamic Jihad maintains that Palestinian resistance groups have fully respected all terms of the ceasefire from its outset and have taken no actions contrary to it. It is indeed rather the occupiers who prevent necessary equipment and technical teams from retrieving their soldiers’ bodies while attempting to mislead public opinion and blame resistance forces.
The statement adds that mediators bear obligation for adopting a firm stance toward Israel’s repeated aggressions and must guarantee implementation of all terms agreed upon.
Islamic Jihad also holds the U.S. goverment accountable for ongoing crimes committed by Israeli forces, stressing that Washington must force them to comply with the agreement rather of excusing their violations.
The statement further highlights continued popular mobilization supporting Gaza and rejecting enemy aggression against the ceasefire as an effective means to pressure this regime.
