Hamas Condemns Red Cross Ban on Visits to Palestinian Prisoners

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Palestinian Shihab News Agency via Mehr News Agency, Hamas issued a statement denouncing Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Katz’s decision to prevent International Committee of the red Cross representatives from accessing hundreds of Palestinian detainees. The movement described this move as a violation of the basic rights of their prisoners and an addition to Israel’s systematic and criminal abuses against them, including killings, torture, starvation, and medical neglect.
Hamas added that it calls on the international community along with human rights and humanitarian organizations to intervene swiftly to halt these brutal measures against Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails. They stressed these actions constitute clear breaches of international law and article 3 of the Geneva Conventions.
The movement also urged global human rights bodies to intensify efforts toward securing the release of Palestinian detainees, exposing the occupiers’ savage practices, and holding Israeli leaders accountable for their unprecedented crimes.
