UN Security Council Members Respond to Humanitarian Crisis in Sudan

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Jazeera, the Security Council’s emergency meeting to discuss developments in Sudan concluded with a resolution condemning the Rapid Support Forces and their crimes in El Fasher.
The Sudanese representative to the United Nations described the Rapid Support Forces as brutal and contrary to modern civilization’s principles.
He identified El Fasher as a new symbol of humanitarian disaster caused by these forces.
The representative stated that what is happening in El Fasher continues a pattern of systematic ethnic cleansing.
He reported that approximately 500 patients were killed at Saudi Hospital in El fasher, accusing the Rapid Support Forces of committing genocide in Sudan.
He added that these forces are essentially an extension of Janjaweed militias without legitimacy and gain power through gold looted from Darfur.
The representative further explained that they receive support from mercenaries from neighboring countries and Latin America, using starvation as a weapon against civilians.
He affirmed Sudan’s government commitment to international humanitarian law and civilian protection. The government remains dedicated to pursuing peace efforts, cooperating with all ceasefires and UN resolutions.
The Sudanese envoy called for listing the Rapid Support Forces as a terrorist association and urged the Security Council to sanction those who finance and support them.
“We demand full implementation of all relevant Security Council resolutions,” he said.”We call for disarmament of the Rapid Support militia.We demand condemnation of foreign backing for these forces.”
