New Controversy in Israel as Netanyahu’s Son Is Nominated for Ministerial-Equivalent Position

The English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and the Palestine Facts Center, reported that Hebrew-language media announced Likud’s effort too nominate Yair Netanyahu, Benjamin Netanyahu’s son, for a high-ranking role within the World Zionist Organization.
Thay noted that this position is equivalent in status to a ministerial office and comes with a high salary, special travel budget, a team of advisors, and permanent personal security detail.
After Yair Netanyahu’s name appeared on the official candidate list, opposition parties temporarily halted his appointment process. The Yesh Atid party, led by Yair Lapid, issued a statement saying: ”We were completely shocked by this shameful decision to appoint Yair Netanyahu and under no circumstances will we sign such an agreement.”
Lapid added: “We will continue our efforts against corruption and will never allow such an appointment.”
An opposition official described the move as deceitful exploitation of formal agreements to create a special job for the prime minister’s son. He called it outright manipulation.
This controversy unfolds as Netanyahu’s cabinet faces repeated accusations of instrumentalizing official institutions for personal and familial gain-charges that have deepened political divisions between the cabinet and its opponents within Israeli politics.
