Afghanistan and Pakistan Agree to Extend Ceasefire

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Jazeera via Mehr News Agency, Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Pakistan and Afghanistan reached an agreement in their Istanbul talks to extend the ceasefire.
The spokesperson for the Afghan government described the Istanbul negotiations as challenging but productive, adding that both sides agreed to continue the meetings.
Insider sources confirmed on Thursday that Afghanistan and Pakistan will resume peace talks in Istanbul. This follows Islamabad’s announcement yesterday that these discussions had failed.
Islamabad accuses Afghanistan’s caretaker government (the Taliban) of harboring the terrorist group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, a charge Kabul denies.
