Afghanistan and Pakistan Agree to Extend Ceasefire

Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced an ​agreement between Afghanistan and Pakistan to continue the ⁣ceasefire.

According to the English ‌section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Jazeera via Mehr News Agency, Turkey’s Ministry of ⁣Foreign Affairs stated that Pakistan and⁤ Afghanistan reached an agreement in their Istanbul talks to extend the ceasefire.

The ​spokesperson for the⁤ Afghan government described the Istanbul negotiations as challenging but productive, adding that both‍ sides agreed to continue the meetings.

Insider sources ⁣confirmed on Thursday that Afghanistan and⁣ Pakistan will resume⁤ peace talks ⁤in Istanbul. This follows Islamabad’s announcement yesterday that these discussions had failed.

Islamabad accuses Afghanistan’s caretaker ‍government (the Taliban) of harboring the terrorist group ​Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, a charge Kabul denies.
