Trump: Democrats Aim to Prolong Government Shutdown
According to the English section of webangah News Agency,citing Al Jazeera,Donald Trump launched a fierce attack on Democrats over the ongoing government shutdown.
Trump urged Republicans to change voting laws in Congress despite Democratic opposition to end the shutdown.
He accused Democrats of deliberately extending the shutdown to secure electoral gains and win more congressional seats.
“The Democrats are crazy; they want to give trillions of dollars to illegal immigrants, many of whom are in prison, and we will not allow that,” Trump said.
The federal government has been shut down since October 1 due to Congress’s failure to approve a temporary budget.
Democrats have made extending healthcare subsidies through the end of the year a condition for reopening the government. Though, Republicans insist negotiations will only take place after operations resume.
This deadlock has forced around 750,000 federal employees into unpaid leave while others continue working without pay. the Trump management stated that military personnel, law enforcement officers, and immigration and customs officials have received their last paychecks.
The shutdown is poised to cause more severe consequences for the public as food assistance programs face funding shortages starting next Saturday. The US Department of Agriculture announced it cannot use its $5.5 billion emergency fund reserve. Consequently, payments will halt in states unable to cover this shortfall.
