Intense Khartoum-Emirates Clash at Security Council; Idris Accuses: You Are Gold Thieves

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Alkhaleej Online, last nightS United Nations Security Council meeting to discuss the situation in Sudan’s Al-Fashir city and ongoing mass killings witnessed a fierce verbal clash between Mohammed Abu Shehab, the UAE representative, and Al-Harith Idris, Sudan’s envoy. Both directly accused each other of responsibility for prolonging the conflict in Sudan and backing armed factions.
The Sudanese representative explicitly condemned Abu Dhabi for its alleged malicious role in providing arms and financial support to Rapid Support Forces (RSF), demanding an end to such interference. In response, the Emirati envoy strongly denied these accusations, labeling both warring parties as politically and morally illegitimate actors responsible for the current humanitarian disaster.
The source added that tensions escalated when the UAE delegate launched unprecedented criticism against all belligerents involved in Sudan’s conflict. He stated: “The Sudanese Armed Forces and Rapid Support Forces have embarked on a devastating war claiming thousands of lives, thereby disqualifying themselves from any future role in the country.”
Abu Shehab asserted: “Since the war began, the UAE has cooperated with regional and international partners to support humanitarian and political efforts aimed at halting bloodshed. It is shameful that a country opening its hospitals, warehouses, and airports for wounded civilians and displaced people is accused of siding with one faction.”
Meanwhile, Al-Harith Idris sharply interrupted his counterpart: “This is not true. You are fueling this war with weapons and money. You are sending drones to bomb civilians in Darfur.”
He further stated: “I have submitted dozens of documents to this Security Council proving Emirates’ involvement by supplying arms, military assistance to Rapid Support forces, and also financially supporting foreign mercenaries operating inside Sudan.”
The tension peaked when Idris addressed Abu Shehab directly: “Your place is not on this council but alongside your supported militias. The RSF steals Sudan’s gold shipments bound for your country where today you act as war profiteers.”
The UAE envoy replied: “These allegations are perilous falsehoods. It is regrettable that some exploit UN platforms to justify internal failures by blaming external actors.”
Both envoys left angrily before session adjournment, marking one of the most tense meetings in recent Security Council history.
