German Foreign Minister: Israel’s Attacks on Lebanon Are Unacceptable

lail Yusuf, Lebanon’s Foreign Minister, met wiht his German counterpart Johann Wadephul in Beirut and urged German authorities to pressure Israel to halt its attacks, withdraw from occupied Lebanese territories, and comply with ceasefire obligations.
Yusuf emphasized that a diplomatic-not military-solution is the only path to stability in southern Lebanon. He added that the Lebanese government is gradually enforcing its decision to monopoly control over weapons and that the lebanese army is fully carrying out its duties.
Simultaneously occurring, Germany’s Foreign Minister Wadephul stated that his visit aimed to support stability in Lebanon and the region. He condemned Israeli aggressions as unacceptable, stressing that Tel Aviv must respect Lebanon’s sovereignty and all parties should commit to ending opposed actions.
Wadephul praised Beirut’s efforts toward disarming non-state actors but warned that failure would send a negative signal about Lebanon’s ability to assert governmental authority.
The german minister also reaffirmed Germany’s support for the return of Syrian refugees following Lebanon’s position and engaged in discussions about the future of UNIFIL missions and potential plans after their mandate ends.
