Rising Likelihood of U.S. Attack on Venezuela

A U.S. official told Al Jazeera, as reported by webangah News Agency from Mehr News Agency, that President Trump is in talks within his administration about possibly launching attacks inside Venezuela targeting drug trafficking groups.
The official added that the Joint Chiefs of Staff have presented options regarding targets linked to drug trafficking organizations within Venezuela to President Trump.
He emphasized that the USS Ford aircraft carrier will arrive in the Caribbean soon to strengthen military presence in the region.
The official also claimed that the Trump administration plans to continue operations against drug-smuggling ships in both the Caribbean and eastern Pacific Ocean.
These remarks come as a senior Democratic member of the House Armed Services Committee predicted that the Trump administration may soon initiate ground attacks inside Venezuela.
