Oman Foreign Minister: Isolating Iran Is Not an Effective Policy

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Oman News agency, Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, spoke at the Manama Dialog 2025 conference hosted by Bahrain in collaboration with the International Institute for Strategic Studies. He said true security cannot be achieved through policies of isolation, containment, or exclusion but through positive engagement among regional countries. Ancient experience has shown that marginalizing states only exacerbates tensions and prolongs conflicts.
He emphasized that regional stability can only be realized through constructive dialogue and mutual understanding.
Al Busaidi added that oman has long maintained that isolating Iran is not a suitable approach. Involving Iran within a comprehensive regional security system will help consolidate stability and foster joint cooperation.
The minister highlighted that Iran has demonstrated readiness for constructive dialogue on multiple occasions. Despite repeated attacks, it has exercised restraint during various incidents. This underscores the importance of adopting an inclusive diplomatic approach involving all parties to address shared challenges such as maritime security, combating smuggling, and climate change.
Al Busaidi recalled meaningful progress earlier this year in nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States after five rounds of talks. However, days before a crucial sixth round-which could have played a decisive role in reaching a final agreement-Israel launched illegal military attacks against Iran.
he condemned Israel’s purposeful actions aimed at prolonging tensions which have resulted in hundreds of innocent Iranian civilian casualties.
The minister stressed that despite these attacks, Iran showed remarkable restraint – as seen after Israel bombed its consulate in Syria, wounded its ambassador in Lebanon, and assassinated a senior Palestinian negotiator in Tehran.
describing these acts as clear violations of international law, Al Busaidi asserted they demonstrate unequivocally that Israel is the primary source of instability and insecurity in the region-not Iran.
he warned against policies based on exclusion or elimination which breed extremism and instability. Conversely, broad participation and comprehensive cooperation create an habitat of trust, mutual respect, and shared prosperity.
The foreign minister called for establishing an inclusive regional security framework encompassing all countries-including Iran, Iraq, and Yemen-to effectively address common challenges together.
Al Busaidi pledged Oman’s continued support for comprehensive dialogue as a strategic option to achieve lasting security, peace,*and prosperity* across the region. He underlined that only through dialogue can a more stable and developed future be built for all peoples here.
