Tajikistan Responds to EU Sanctions on Three Domestic Banks

Tajikistan’s Ministry of Foreign affairs responded on Saturday to the inclusion of several national banks in the EU sanctions list,reaffirming Dushanbe’s commitment to international obligations and its readiness to cooperate with partners to jointly mitigate the risks posed by these measures,according to webangah News Agency,citing Interfax via Mehr News Agency.
The ministry issued a statement expressing deep concern over the matter and regret that some Tajik banks were targeted by these sanctions.
The statement added that the goverment is closely reviewing the situation and taking necessary steps to minimize the negative impact of these restrictions.
According to Interfax, in October, the European Union imposed sanctions on three tajik banks: Bank Shahr Dushanbe, Commerce Bank, and Spitamen Bank.
