Sudani: International Coalition Will Withdraw from Iraq by September 2026

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Reuters, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani said on Monday that Baghdad has committed to placing all weapons under government control. However, this will not be feasible while the US-led coalition remains in the country.
The prime minister stated that plans for the complete withdrawal of the multinational coalition from Iraq by September 2026 remain ongoing.
As reported by Al Jazeera, Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani said: “We have a balanced relationship with Washington based on mutual interests; we are not a sphere of influence. Iraq’s interests come first, and we will not allow any party to drag Baghdad into war. Only the government holds decision-making power.”
