1,500 Journalists Cover Iraq Parliamentary Elections

Iraq’s Autonomous High ‌Electoral Commission officials announced that approximately 1,500 journalists will cover the parliamentary elections on November 11.

Iraq’s Independent High Electoral Commission has⁢ confirmed that 304 international observers along with about 1,500 domestic and foreign journalists will monitor and report on next week’s parliamentary elections.

Hassan Salman,⁤ Legal Advisor to the Electoral Commission, ​stated that so far 304 international figures have been⁢ designated as election observers. ​These include representatives from seven embassies and three international organizations and institutions.

He added there is a strong likelihood that both the Arab league and the United ​Nations ‌will ⁢participate in overseeing the elections in Iraq.

Hassan Hadi Zaer,a member of the electoral commission’s media team,said 1,350 local journalists have registered to cover election news. Additionally, around 200 correspondents representing foreign news agencies ​and television networks will be present.

zaer noted that the commission has begun ⁢issuing accreditation cards for reporters​ who will be stationed at polling centers across Baghdad ⁣and other‍ provinces.

Separately,Jumana Al-Ghalaiy,spokesperson for Iraq’s​ Independent High Electoral Commission,announced that after voting concludes on election night,all electronic devices and ⁢ballot boxes will be transferred to each province’s​ electoral warehouses promptly.

She explained these ballot boxes will remain stored there to ⁤facilitate recounts or sorting of votes if any complaints or objections arise regarding results.

The parliamentary elections are scheduled for November 11.Only voters holding valid voter identification cards are eligible to participate in this election process.
