Berri: Lebanese Will Say No to Normalizing Relations with Tel Aviv

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al-Nashra and mehr News Agency, Nabih Berri, Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, said that the resistance has complied with the ceasefire agreement. He added that more than 9,000 officers and soldiers from the Lebanese Army have been deployed in the area south of the Litani River.
Berri noted that while the Lebanese Army has the capacity to deploy along internationally recognized borders, this is obstructed by Israel’s continued occupation of large parts of southern Lebanon. This reality is confirmed by UNIFIL peacekeeping forces and international reports.
The Speaker questioned when, where, and how Israel has ever adhered even to a single clause of any ceasefire agreement.
He further criticized those who oppose mentioning ”the resistance” in political and media discourse. “Is there any country in the world that denies its purest chapter in history?” he asked.
Berri addressed U.S. envoy Morgan Ortagus’ recent visit, highlighting two main topics discussed: Israel’s claims about ongoing arms transfers from Syria to Lebanon and issues related to negotiations. He labeled Israel’s allegations as outright falsehoods as “the United States continuously monitors developments through satellites and other equipment.”
Regarding election law, Berri emphasized it remains valid and must be enforced on schedule; or else, political tensions will arise.
On normalization between Lebanon and Israel, he reaffirmed his confidence that “the Lebanese people will say no” to such efforts.
Concerning reconstruction and resilience in southern Lebanon, Berri stressed that one of the most crucial struggles being waged by Lebanese citizens-especially those in southern areas-is their determination to remain on their land despite daily killings carried out by Israeli occupying forces and their war machinery.
