New York Mayoral Candidate Exposes Trump’s Empty Threats
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, Zahran Mamdani, the Democratic candidate for New York City mayor, stated on Tuesday that Trump is making extensive efforts to intimidate voters in the city.
Mamdani added that Trump encourages residents to support Andrew Cuomo, and said he will respond appropriately to these threats. “Trump’s comments imply that he will control the city’s budget; though, this is not accurate,” Mamdani said.
He further emphasized that he would not be cowed by Donald Trump’s threats to cut New York City’s federal funding.
Previously, former U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to restrict federal funding allocated specifically for New York City if Mamdani – a muslim Democratic candidate - wins the mayoral race.
Trump had urged New Yorkers to vote in favor of Andrew Cuomo. He claimed that if Mamdani prevailed, New York would face a complete social and economic disaster.
Notably, early voting polls closed yesterday amid reports indicating Zahran Mamdani held a lead in the mayoral race.
