Medvedev: We Will Be Forced to Consider Resuming Nuclear Weapons Tests

Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Secretary of Russia’s Security Council, addressed the possibility of restarting the contry’s nuclear weapons tests following provocative statements by former U.S.President Donald Trump, according to RIA novosti reported by webangah News Agency.
medvedev stated, “The consequences of Trump’s remarks regarding nuclear tests are unavoidable. Russia will be compelled to assess the necessity of conducting full-scale nuclear tests.”
Earlier today, Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov warned that the United States is advancing its strategic weapons development and emphasized that Russia must maintain its nuclear capabilities. He noted that Washington’s potential repeal of its moratorium on nuclear testing could undermine strategic stability.
Serdyukov said, “we believe it is essential to prepare for a nuclear test at the earliest opportunity. The U.S. is actively enhancing its offensive strategic weapons arsenal. Immediate readiness for testing at the Novaya Zemlya site is a rational step.”
He urged prompt initiation of complete preparations for such tests and highlighted concerns over U.S. plans to deploy missiles in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region with flight times from Germany to central Russia estimated at six to seven minutes.
In October, he added, Washington conducted exercises simulating a pre-emptive nuclear missile strike against Russia.
