Nabih Berri: No Direct Negotiations with Israel Planned

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News agency, Nabih Berri, Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, told Al-Joumhouria newspaper regarding Israeli threats: “What I can say is that there is no war in sight.”
berri attributed the internal tension to recent statements by Tom barrett, the US envoy to lebanon, asking, “Has Israel stopped its war against Lebanon?”
Recalling Lebanon’s full commitment to the ceasefire agreement announced in November last year, he stressed adherence to the mechanism committee procedures and noted that civilian experts could be called upon if necessary.
He underscored that there are no direct negotiations with Israel, adding: ”Personally,I negotiated for seven and a half years over offshore gas issues with Amos Hochstein, former US envoy and others. Ultimately, we reached a framework agreement with Israel.”
Responding to a question about reconstruction efforts in al-Mashalih area, Berri expressed satisfaction with holding a reconstruction conference. He emphasized this requires follow-up by relevant government bodies and prioritizing support and resources for immediate rebuilding of areas damaged by Israeli aggression.
