Health Official Reports 58,000 Children Orphaned in Gaza War
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr news Agency quoting the Palestinian Information Center, Dr. Ahmad Al-Farra, head of Pediatrics and Obstetrics at Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, told Al-Aqsa Network that as the ceasefire was declared, an additional 226 people have been killed. Hospitals continue to receive new casualties daily, indicating that conditions on the ground remain close to active conflict.
He identified one of the most heartbreaking issues after the war as “the case of orphans,” highlighting it as one of Gaza’s most severe humanitarian consequences.
Al-Farra reported that 58,000 children have been registered as orphans during this conflict. Among them, 5,000 children lost their fathers and 4,200 lost their mothers.
He emphasized that Nasser Hospital faces daily distressing cases involving sick children-including those suffering from cancer-whose psychological, medical, and family situations have become deeply elaborate due to wartime conditions.
Al-Farra noted there are more than 500 cancer patients in Gaza who lack access to specialized treatment as of blockades and drug shortages. Many urgently need transfer outside Gaza for continued care.
He called for immediate provision of vital cancer medications and reopening travel routes for medical treatment abroad. He warned that if this crisis persists, hundreds of patients’ lives will be at imminent risk.
