International Complaint Filed Against Former Israeli Prime Minister for War Crimes

Legal firm Hind Rajab has filed two separate complaints against former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert at the Berlin state Prosecutor’s Office and the Federal‍ Prosecutor’s Office, accusing him of ‌war crimes in the Gaza Strip.

According to the English⁤ section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr ⁣news Agency and Al Mayadeen, Hind rajab-a legal institute known for pursuing cases against Israel’s military-filed two ⁣criminal complaints last Wednesday against Ehud Olmert. The allegations concern⁤ war crimes committed during his tenure as Israel’s prime minister and top political⁤ and military official in the occupied territories amid Operation Cast Lead in Gaza between 2008 and 2009. The complaints were ⁤submitted to both the Berlin State Prosecutor’s Office⁤ and Germany’s Federal Prosecutor.

The complaint⁣ states that as prime minister, Olmert bore direct responsibility for Israel’s military decisions that led to indiscriminate bombings of densely populated civilian areas. These attacks resulted in the destruction of hospitals, schools, United Nations facilities, and caused over 1,300 Palestinian ‍deaths-including 300 children and 115 women.

The institute emphasizes that international law holds political and military leaders accountable for crimes committed‍ under thier⁣ authority. It accuses‍ Olmert of personal responsibility for planning and approving military operations targeting ⁢Palestinian civilians.

The charges include ‌using white phosphorus bombs in residential neighborhoods, targeting civilians along with humanitarian facilities, obstructing aid deliveries, and destroying essential ‍infrastructure.

This ⁢legal action was initiated one day before Olmert’s ‍scheduled visit to Berlin to attend a public event. Meanwhile, despite facing these accusations⁢ himself regarding Gaza war‍ crimes, Olmert ‍recently criticized current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s policies in Gaza during media interviews-describing ⁢recent events⁤ ther as “close to a war crime.”
