Al-Julani and Anas al-Khatib Removed from London Sanctions List

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Sputnik, the UK government has delisted Al-Jolani from its sanctions roster.
This move follows a similar decision by the United Nations Security Council and comes ahead of his scheduled meeting with US President Donald Trump next week.
The UK also announced it is lifting sanctions on Syria’s Interior Minister, Ins Ansalhob.
Both individuals were previously subject to targeted financial sanctions related to ISIS and Al-Qaeda.
The removal of sanctions against Al-Jolani coincides with a Reuters exclusive report on Thursday that the US is preparing to deploy troops at an airbase in Syria’s capital.
The Western outlet noted that US military presence plans in Damascus signal a strategic realignment of syrian alliances with Washington following Bashar al-Assad’s fall.
Political analysts suggest that removing Al-Jolani from the sanctions list reflects Damascus’ goodwill towards the West and serves as a gesture from Washington in exchange for US military presence on Syrian soil.
