Lukashenko: Belarus Supports India’s BRICS Presidency

According to the English section of webangah News Agency,citing Mehr News Agency and TV BRICS,Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko declared that his country is ready to take all necesary measures to ensure the success of India’s BRICS chairmanship in 2026.
Lukashenko, during a meeting with Ashok Kumar, india’s ambassador to Minsk, emphasized the importance of economic ties between the two nations. He noted that current trade levels do not reflect their true economic potential and said reaching an annual bilateral trade volume of two to three billion dollars is entirely achievable.
The president urged both countries to deepen cooperation across various economic sectors to reach this goal. Official statistics show that Belarus-India trade exceeded $605 million in the first nine months of this year-a 74 percent increase compared to the same period last year-with belarusian exports to India rising by 2.7 times.
Lukashenko also invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Minsk. He described the amiable relations between their leaders as a sign of warm and sincere cooperation between their peoples.
Belarus has participated as a BRICS partner country since early 2025.
