Lukashenko: Belarus Supports India’s BRICS Presidency

Belarusian President highlights Notable Growth in Trade ⁤with India, ‍Affirms Minsk’s Full Support for Delhi’s BRICS Chairmanship⁢ in⁣ 2026 and Announces Expansion ‌of Economic Cooperation

According to the English section of webangah News Agency,citing Mehr News Agency and TV BRICS,Belarusian President Alexander⁢ Lukashenko declared that his country is ready⁣ to take all necesary measures to ensure ‌the success of India’s BRICS chairmanship in 2026.

Lukashenko, during a meeting with Ashok Kumar, india’s⁣ ambassador to Minsk, emphasized the importance of economic ties between⁤ the two nations. He noted ⁣that current trade ‌levels do not reflect their true economic potential and said reaching an annual bilateral trade volume of two to three billion ⁣dollars is entirely achievable.

The president urged both countries to deepen cooperation ‌across various economic sectors to reach this goal. Official⁣ statistics show that ‍Belarus-India trade exceeded $605 million ⁣in the⁣ first nine months of this ⁢year-a ​74 percent increase compared to the same period last year-with belarusian exports to India rising by 2.7 times.

Lukashenko also invited Indian Prime Minister‌ Narendra Modi to ‌visit⁢ Minsk. He described ‍the amiable ‍relations between‌ their leaders as a sign‍ of ⁣warm and ​sincere cooperation between their⁢ peoples.

Belarus has participated as a BRICS ​partner country since early 2025.
