Election Silence Period Begins in Iraq

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Iraqi news agencies via mehr News Agency, the election silence began this morning, one day before a special voting process. During this period, candidates are prohibited from campaigning until the conclusion of voting.
the Self-reliant High Electoral Commission of Iraq announced yesterday that it is indeed fully prepared to conduct parliamentary elections in coordination with relevant security bodies.
In an official statement, the commission said that the election silence phase starts at 7 a.m.tomorrow and will continue until the end of general voting.
The statement emphasized that any campaign activity by candidates or electoral lists during this time constitutes a clear violation of regulations and will result in legal action against offenders.
The commission underlined that the purpose of election silence is to create a calm surroundings, allowing voters to freely consider their choices and select their representatives without last-minute influence or advertising pressure.
Special voting for military personnel is scheduled to begin on Sunday, November 9 at 7 a.m. General voting will follow after special polling concludes and will start on Tuesday morning, November 11.
