Trump’s Deputy Warns of Severe Consequences from US Government Shutdown

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr news Agency, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance wrote on X: “What the Democrats are doing regarding the government shutdown is unprecedented. So far, the government has shielded Americans from its worst effects, but the consequences of a continued shutdown are imminent and will soon become clear.”
He added, “In aviation, the shutdown has caused widespread flight delays for all Americans, creating an emergency situation in this sector. We are witnessing the exhaustion of funding for food stamp programs and other aid initiatives for those in need. Military and homeland security personnel are facing severe budget pressures. The government shutdown has shifted from a farce to a tragedy, and all senators and representatives refusing to reopen the government bear duty for this national emergency.”
the Federal Court Ruling Is Illogical
As reported by The hill website, during a meeting with Central Asian leaders at the White House, Vance described a recent federal court ruling as ”ridiculous.” He said: “A federal judge is dictating terms amid this Democratic-led shutdown.”
he continued: “What we want is for Democrats to reopen the government so we can fund food assistance programs and do good things for Americans. But in the middle of a shutdown, no federal court can tell the president how to prioritize resources.”
Vance stated that while the White House will attempt to finance certain parts of the government during this period of closure, it will do so according to its own policies.
Earlier on Thursday, Federal Judge John McConnell rejected a plan by the administration that would allow limited payments without accessing additional funds. He ruled that this approach violated his prior order. The Department of Justice announced it would appeal this decision-introducing uncertainty over food assistance for millions of Americans.
The trump administration planned to fully suspend food aid payments starting earlier this month due to the ongoing shutdown affecting approximately 42 million recipients nationwide. This move has faced two lawsuits arguing that these benefits must continue uninterrupted.
Last week Judge McConnell ruled that at minimum $5 billion from SNAP’s reserve fund must be used; however, experts estimate November’s total cost exceeds $9 billion-leaving shortfalls unresolved.
The Trump administration is seeking ways to reallocate funds temporarily so expenses like military salaries and nutrition programs for women and infants remain funded during this impasse. Meanwhile, U.S.Department of Transportation officials warned some airports will reduce flights due to air traffic controller staffing shortages caused by furloughs under current conditions.
