Trump Napping During White House Meeting Sparks California Governor’s Satire

According to teh English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and the British newspaper The Independent, after US President Donald Trump was seen briefly closing his eyes during a televised meeting, California Governor Gavin Newsom once again dubbed him “Sleepy Donald.” This nickname had been previously used in response to Trump’s occasional dozing.
The 79-year-old Trump appeared with his eyes closed multiple times during a discussion in the Oval Office about the impact of obesity treatment on improving sleep.
Governor Newsom mocked Trump on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “Sleepy Trump is back!”
Newsom had used this moniker last month when Trump appeared to fall asleep during a panel on far-left extremists. The jab serves as a retort to the well-known label “Sleepy Joe” that Trump frequently applied to former President Joe Biden.
Trump became the oldest president in US history at his inauguration last year at 78 years and seven months old. He will be 82 by the end of his current term.
He has previously been seen with closed eyes at official events, including an Energy and Innovation meeting last July, during questioning by his former lawyer Michael Cohen last year, and at the start of the so-called “hush money” trial.
Some Republican figures have defended trump. Republican Congresswoman Lauren Boebert claimed he was praying when he appeared with closed eyes.
Trump has often boasted about needing little sleep, stating: “I’m not much of a sleeper; three or four hours is plenty!”
