He emphasized that polling centers remain fully secure.
The remarks came hours after voting began in the special election and following al-Shammari’s visit to a polling station in Baghdad to cast his ballot.
Al-Shammari told reporters: “The special voting process is proceeding fluently across Baghdad and all provinces. Personnel are being transferred to polling stations regularly in successive groups under supervision from officers, commanders, and officials.”
He noted that voting will continue until 6:00 p.m., encouraging all eligible voters to participate before polls close.
The Interior Minister stressed that security conditions around polling centers are stable and wholly secure. Operations are running according to plan.
He also highlighted effective coordination among security agencies, officers responsible for protecting the centers, and the election commission.
This morning marked the opening of polling stations for security forces and staff tasked with protection duties during Iraq’s general parliamentary elections scheduled for November 11. The vote includes members of the military, prisoners, and hospital patients eligible to vote.
The special elections will conclude at 6 p.m., maintaining electoral silence initiated yesterday morning ahead of the general elections on Tuesday, November 11.
