Illegal Migrant Boat Capsizes at Malaysia-Thailand Maritime Border
The capsizing of a boat carrying illegal migrants near the maritime border of Malaysia and Thailand has so far resulted in one death.
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing mehr News Agency and China’s Xinhua News Agency, a boat carrying nearly 100 illegal migrants capsized in waters near the maritime border between Malaysia and Thailand.
Local police have confirmed one fatality and six survivors from the incident. The boat was part of a larger vessel operated by human trafficking networks, which was transporting about 300 peopel.
The status of two other boats remains unknown as Malaysian maritime police continue search and rescue operations.
