Aoun to U.S. Delegation: Halting Hostilities Is a Condition for Negotiations

According to the English section of webangah News Agency,citing Mehr News Agency and Russia Al-Youm,Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stated during a meeting with a US delegation that the option for negotiations arises from the reality that war has yielded no results.
He added that talks require a conducive surroundings, and most importantly, an end to hostilities and the achievement of stability in southern Lebanon.
The Al-Hadath network reported today that a delegation from the US Treasury Department is scheduled to meet with President Aoun in Beirut.
Simultaneously occurring, Al-Hadath’s English service cited its sources as saying two senior White House officials are also set to travel to beirut today.
The network claimed these American officials carry a firm message from washington directed at the Lebanese government regarding Hezbollah.
The US Treasury announced this delegation will proceed to Europe and the region to explore ways of applying pressure on Iran, according to their statements.
Israel’s Kan Network reported that Israel warned American monitors overseeing the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon that Hezbollah has transferred hundreds of rockets from Syria into Lebanon over recent weeks. It also claimed Hezbollah rebuilt damaged rocket launch platforms and recruited thousands of new fighters-a move Tel Aviv alleges violates Lebanon’s government decision mandating hezbollah’s disarmament.
According to this report, israel sent a message through American channels directly to the Lebanese army asserting: “You do not act sufficiently against Hezbollah; therefore Israel will continue its strikes within Lebanon.”
