Tensions Rise Between China and Japan Following Takaiichi’s Comments on Taiwan

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Kyodo via Mehr News agency,Minoru Kihara,Japan’s chief government spokesperson, stated at a press conference on Monday that the threatening message posted by a chinese diplomat toward Japan on X was completely inappropriate for the head of a Chinese diplomatic mission.
He added that Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its embassy in China have lodged formal protests with Beijing and demanded the removal of the Chinese diplomat’s post.
A Japanese government source said Shi Jian, china’s consul general in Osaka, had posted on X last Saturday a threatening message referring to Sanae Takaichi’s remarks about Taiwan. Shi wrote: “Without a moment’s hesitation, we will cut off any unclean neck.” The post concluded with a direct challenge to Japan’s prime minister: “Are you ready for this?”
This escalation followed Takaichi’s statement at a parliamentary committee meeting last Friday. She warned that China’s potential military attack on Taiwan could threaten Japan’s very existence and suggested Tokyo might exercise its right to collective self-defense.
Since the 1949 civil war, China and Taiwan have operated separately. China considers Taiwan a breakaway province that must be reunified with the mainland. Beijing regards Taiwan as an internal matter of China and sees any external commentary as interference.
