Security Measures Implemented for Transporting Ballot Boxes in Iraq

The head of Iraq’s Electoral Security Committee and deputy commander of⁣ joint operations has announced special measures for transporting ballot boxes from remote areas.

According to the English⁣ section of webangah News Agency, citing‍ Iraq’s official news agency WAA, Qais al-Muhamdawi, head⁢ of the Electoral Security Committee and deputy commander of⁣ Iraq’s joint operations, stated that a plan has been developed to transport ballot boxes and memory cards from distant regions.

Al-muhamdawi explained ‌that under‍ the electoral law⁣ issued⁢ by the Autonomous High Electoral Commission this year, each electoral district must ‍have three cameras recording voting from different angles. These recordings serve as⁢ official documents and will be reviewed if⁣ any political group files an objection ⁤or raises doubts. The cameras are a legal requirement for the commission and capture all events⁢ from the opening to the closing of⁢ polling stations.

He said ⁣moving ballot boxes, voting equipment, and memory cards from remote‌ areas poses a important challenge. Thus, a precise plan has been arranged in coordination with‌ the Army Air Force to transfer these materials from districts and remote ⁣locations‍ to provincial ‌centers.

The head of ⁢Iraq’s Electoral Security⁢ Committee⁣ added that election materials will be transported under ⁤supervision‌ by staff and‌ security forces-first to district centers and ⁢vote registration offices, then on to the Independent High Electoral Commission offices. The Army Air Force will handle transfers ‌between provinces with airports.‌ For provinces located 100 to 150 kilometers from Baghdad,⁢ military vehicles will transport election materials by road to⁤ ensure timely arrival.
